- Where can I find information on an industry?
You can find more information in the Industries section of the website. Each page includes (where available) an overview of the industry, statistics, sub-industries, and career ladder information. Industries include Healthcare, Hospitality & Entertainment, Communications, Computer/Electronics, Software, Biomed & Biotech, Skilled Trades Occ., and Automotive Occ.
- How can I add an education and training resource to the directory?
Go to the "Sign Up for New Account" underneath the Partner Login button.
What is a partner?
A partner is an education/training institution. They can add new local institutions (San Diego County only) that are not in the directory or take over a current institution's listing and edit its course offerings.
- Where and how can I search for different occupations?
Go to the Occupations page and use the search feature. Input keywords and filter your results by Industry, Sub-Industry, and Job Category.
- How can I learn about education and training resources?
Go to the Education & Training page and use the search feature. Input an Institution name or other keywords and filter your results by Zip Code, Degree type, and Institution Program (CIP).
- What can I learn in the Data Center?
The Data Center contains Annual Industry Employment and Industry Facilities information. This information is provided by Cluster and Sector and is viewable in a table or a chart. You may also filter by industry type, print, and save the information.

Data Sources and Methodology
- Where did San Diego Work Portal obtain its data?
The data for the San Diego Work Portal derives itself from four data groups, each with its own information sources.
- Standardized Industry Data is comprised of information from economy.com’s four-digit NAICS employment model for San Diego County (years 2000-2020) and EDD’s LMID data for the number of facilities in 2005.
- Standardized Occupational Data is from three sources: San Diego County Industry and Occupational Crosswalk, California Industry and Occupational Crosswalk, and proxy industries for confidential data at both the County and State level (rarely used data source).
- Specialized Industry Data uses all industry information that is gathered from industry specific sources, with healthcare and hospitality information deriving from individual studies previously conducted by the San Diego Workforce Partnership.
- Specialized occupation data is taken from four sources: San Diego Workforce Partnership’s Occupational Outlook Reports, California’s Occupational Guides, US Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, and O*Net Online (www.online.onetcenter.org)
